  Four years ago I contacted Michael and spoke at length with Sandra his wife. I explained my brain injury and my desire to gain better control of concentration, coordination, sound and breath control, having tried and dismissed several things including meditation. Michael contacted me we discussed my love of music and how it stimulated my thoughts and suggested a trial singing lesson. Having gained Grade 2 theory 47years earlier, I felt I could still follow written music, so I went along.
  
  I was immediately at ease in the studio, when I became confused we discussed other approaches, I was encouraged to relax and follow the music. I did and the hour flew by. Michael said my difficulties could be worked around, I had the beginnings of a pleasing voice and would I like to continue with lessons. I agreed and couldn’t believe I was singing, a complete novice.
  
  Moving on to November 2017, I sat my grade 5 Theory exam and I am awaiting that result, my previous grades were all passed with Distinction. In singing I passed Grade 3 and Grade 5 exams with a very high mark. I gained sufficient confidence to join a Choir recently. For Remembrance last weekend, I sang with the Soprano section of a 90 voice Choir, 7 pieces in Latin, for once I impressed myself. Without Michael’s expert tutelage, I would never have tried, let alone believed I could “hold my own” at such an important emotional event.
  
  2018 will be another year of exploring music, learning and exams as I continue to pursue this wonderful, therapeutic, life enriching hobby.

  I started taking piano and music theory lessons with Mike as a nervous adult beginner and I am so glad that I finally decided to do so. Mike put me at ease and is always patient and understanding. The lessons are interesting and well-taught, with expert subject knowledge. Mike's teaching is flexible and responsive; he tries different approaches if I am not able to grasp something, and sets the right amount of homework or practice. Earlier this year, I achieved 92 percent on the Trinity Grade 8 Theory of Music examination. The careful way in which Mike prepared me for this played a large part in my success. I am now concentrating on piano study where, again, I am making progress thanks to Mike's excellent tuition.
  
  I fully recommend Mike. I'm certainly delighted that I decided to pursue something which I had wanted to do for a long time.
